Wedding photography at a horticultural nursery sounds like a strange concept, but like Petersham Nurseries, Architectural Plants is no ordinary nursery. This specialist nursery in Pulborough, West Sussex, is set within 32 acres of open fields surrounded by farmland. This unique venue is a dream for any photographer. Its lush foliage and striking structures offer a fab backdrop. There’s fantastic light come rain or shine. Luckily, Charlotte and Jon had plenty of shine.
Charlotte and her party of family and friends, got ready at a nearby rental cottage. All was fairly calm, but Charlotte was beginning to show signs of nervousness. Meanwhile, her dad took time out to check on his vintage car that would be transporting them to the ceremony.

At the venue, Jon was busy welcoming the hordes of guests. A few welcome drinks were on offer by the large pond on site. When Charlotte and her team arrived, Charlotte’s nerves were starting to get the better of her. Luckily her bridesmaids talked her down. Their ceremony took place in the heart of the nursery. Towering palms and sculptural plants created an almost tropical atmosphere. As they exchanged vows, sunlight filtered through the leaves, giving everything a beautiful glow.
After the ceremony, guests enjoyed drinks and canapés among dramatic greenery. The couple explored the grounds and I captured some candid moments and relaxed couple shots.

The reception space was filled with personality. Simple styling let the natural beauty shine. Long tables sat beneath a canopy of leaves. With the guests seated the couple made their grand entrance. Everybody then tucked into fresh paella cooked out in the open in huge paella pans. Dinner was followed by speeches that were heartfelt, with plenty of laughs and happy tears. Everyone relaxed and soaked up the chilled atmosphere.

Later, fairy lights flickered on as the sun dipped behind the trees. Charlotte and Jon cut their cake and danced their first dance beneath the stars, surrounded by their favourite people. The evening ended with ceilidh dancing and a sky full of stars.
Charlotte and Jon created a day that felt truly personal. This brilliant venue helped bring their vision to life in the most photogenic way. If you’re planning a wedding here, you’re in for something amazing.
