Lorna & Kris

The Oak Barn Wedding Photography

A return to Kent for a sunny and autumnal wedding at The Oak Barn at Frame Farm near Benenden. Lorna and Kris had originally planned a destination wedding in Amsterdam, but the unmentionable C-word put paid to their plans. So, two and a half years after they first booked me, we convened in a quiet corner of the garden of England. The couple got ready on separate floors of the converted oasthouses at Frame Farm.

Lorna’s hair and make-up were in the capable hands of the lovely Lauren Garfitt. Meanwhile, Kris and his best man were downstairs getting him into traditional Scottish dress. This also required a little whisky to be consumed of course!

With The Byre set up for the wedding ceremony, the guests started to gather next door in The Pole Barn. Bride and groom were soon both ready, and did the non-traditional thing of meeting up (don’t call it a first look) near the Oak Barn to enter the wedding ceremony together. Lorna and her bridesmaid had fantastic bouquets by See Rose Floral Design. A pianist played them in, and there was a compact and bijou civil ceremony with a couple of readings.

Next, everyone headed back into the sunshine for meets and greets and some funky cocktails.

After lots of chatting and nibbles everyone soon headed into the Oak Barn itself for the wedding breakfast. Local caterers Home Gurr’own put on a marvellous spread. Dinner was preceded by speeches by Lorna, Kris and the best man, then everyone tucked into a cool take on a ploughman’s lunch. What followed was a rare site at a non-French wedding. A couple of croquembouches, but with a Scottish twist with the addition of some Tunnock’s teacakes!

With everyone well fed, it was time for more funky cocktails in the Pole Barn. Everyone chilled on the sofas and posed for photos on the tractor. The Oak Barn was turned around and the dance floor was soon open. There was live music from The Manhattans. The newlyweds performed their first dance, and I left with the place jumping.
