My third and last wedding of the jubilee weekend was a very grand affair at Blenheim Palace near Woodstock. Our friend the rain was in full attendance, but again it didn’t do a great deal to hinder proceedings. A rarely seen group shot below is a testament to what guests can be made to do no matter what the weather is doing! Given the right persuasion of course (not by me I might add).
Jess got ready at nearby hotel The Feathers with an army of family and friends on bridesmaid duty. She had her own two sisters, and Simon’s two sisters helping out. Jess had given her wedding a 1920’s theme, and had prepared a Charleston routine, which I got a sneak preview of during the preps. A vintage car brought the bride and her dad to the ceremony, which took place in The Orangery at Blenheim. Following that there were drinks in the colonnades, and the aforementioned group shot. I also spent a few minutes in the grounds with the couple on their own. We returned as the guests took their seats in The Orangery for dinner.
There were before-dinner speeches, some of which looked a bit more like comedy routines! After the wedding breakfast the cake was officially cut, and then the couple had their first dance. After that Jess surprised all present with a dress change (into a very sparkly Jenny Packham number). Then the ladies cracked out their pre-rehearsed dance routine!
