It was a sunny Saturday in July for Jessie and Ben’s Stoke Park wedding. I found the bride and her mother having their hair and make-up done in the bridal suite (complete with four-poster bed) before the gang of bridesmaids arrived. Ben arrived downstairs shortly after to fit buttonholes and be ready to greet the guests. With beautification complete upstairs, the bride was fitted into her dress by her team. There was just time for some emotion and reassuring words from mum, and the small matter of veil and shoes.
Outdoor ceremony at Buckinghamshire country club
The weather was perfect for the outdoor ceremony, and the guests began taking their seats by the fountain. A string quartet provided the background music. Upstairs Jessie’s dad was seeing his daughter in her wedding dress for the first time, and couldn’t have looked more proud. The bridal party then made the long walk around the house to the red carpet that led to the groom. There was a short civil ceremony with a couple of readings, and then the newlyweds headed through the bubbles to collect their…er…bubbles. They had a few minutes to themselves in the gardens, and then they joined the guests for canapés and conversations. Inside the kids were busy raiding the sweet trolley!
Documentary wedding photography at Stoke Park
Bouquet tosses never go totally smoothly, and this one was no different. The first attempt missed the unusually timid single females entirely. Second attempt was more successful! There was time for a receiving line before everyone sat down to enjoy the wedding breakfast. After-dinner speaking duties were carried out by both dads and the groom, then the impressive four tier cake was cut. At this point the bride and groom decided to make off on one of the club’s golf buggies, and myself and Neil from NDR Films joined them down at the beautiful stone bridge for some sunset action.
Back in the house the photobooth was getting some love, and then it was time for the first dance, complete with four-way confetti cannon carnage.
