Any questions?
Yes. I work all over the UK (and occasionally abroad too), and I regularly find myself in London, the Cotswolds, Yorkshire and the South West. I love visiting new places and interesting new venues.
Travel and accommodation expenses are included for weddings within England and Wales. Any further than that and I will usually need to arrange local accommodation for both the night before and the night of your wedding, and I will give you a rough idea of costs for this before you book.
Of course! We can chat about your day on a Zoom, Skype or FaceTime call, or if you would like to meet in the flesh we can arrange something.
Meeting isn't compulsory however, and I am happy to answer any questions via email or over the phone, and you can then book when you are ready. I shoot many weddings each year without meeting the couple until the wedding day, although I will endeavour to speak to you about a week before the wedding to check timings and details.
I require a completed booking form and a non-refundable retainer fee of £500 to secure your date. I operate a first-come, first-served policy and I can't hold dates without the completed form and retainer fee. The retainer fee is deducted from the final balance, which is due 28 days before your wedding.
Although my focus and priority is candid and natural coverage of your day, I realise that you or your family may see some staged group shots as an important part of the wedding photography. I recommend having as few as possible of these, and I usually do around four or five. These can include a shot of all the guests together if space and light allow. They usually take about 15 minutes with the help of some planning, and an efficient bridesmaid or usher doing the fetching.
You can see some recent examples of my group shots and staged photography here.
I use a combination of colour and black and white images to document your wedding. The balance varies from wedding to wedding depending on the time of year, the available light, and also how colourful your wedding is. Although all of the photographs are shot in colour, I often know when taking a photograph whether the resulting image will be colour or black and white.
Black & white images can often be more flattering and timeless, and enable me to capture the atmosphere of a scene more successfully. They can also avoid distracting issues with mixed artificial light and daylight that can occur in some situations. However, when the colour is part of the story, the image will remain in colour.
For most weddings I bring my own food and drink. This is one less thing for you to organise and worry about, but it also means I can relax in the knowledge that I don't have to pester anyone for a meal. I take a short break whilst you and your guests are eating.
For London weddings, or situations where my car is not accessible, a small meal is gratefully received.
I certainly am. I have full professional indemnity and public liability cover.
There is no deadline for book or card orders. Many couples decide to add extras when they pay their balance, some once they've seen their images, and some come back to me a year or more after their wedding to order a book. However, note that the advertised prices for extras are only valid until the date your balance is due (28 days before your wedding).
Thankfully I've never been too ill to attend a wedding, and I would have to be completely incapacitated to consider not being there. If this were the case I am part of a huge network of UK photographers who I can call on to step in and cover your day.
This varies from wedding to wedding, but I always deliver at least 250 images from a wedding day, and for a 10-12 hour coverage the total is usually around 400. These are fully-processed, high resolution files, with a licence for personal use. They are ready to print or to share with your Facebook friends.
I always work alone as I feel it enables me to be discreet and blend in to your wedding much easier. You and your guests can relax without feeling like you are constantly being watched. That's how I get the results you see on this website, and I'm often told that I went unnoticed for the majority of the day.
