A wedding close to home at St Alkmunds church in Duffield, Derbyshire. Familiar faces aplenty at Helen and Ash’s wedding as I photographed Ash’s brother Ross’ Christmas wedding to Claire in 2012. This has to be the nearest wedding to home that I have ever photographed. Only a 10 minute drive to the family home for Ash’s preparations, which began with a fairly strenuous cross fit session! Seems a bit crazy for your wedding day. However, in the previous fortnight the groom and his brother had run both the Paris and London marathons.

Now tired from watching the workout, I headed most of the way back home to Helen’s mum’s house for her preparations. This was complete with lots of presents from the groom and a rare ‘over-the-head’ dress installation. Then it was back down the road to St Alkmund’s church in Duffield for the ceremony. After that everyone headed into Derby city centre to a converted Wesleyan chapel that used to house Masa restaurant.

We had musical family members and Easter-themed place names. Later we had a musical speech from the best men and (new record) five wedding cakes courtesy of Ash’s sister-in-law. More from her next at the day after party!
