Not sure how I’ve managed to avoid shooting a wedding at Sutton Bonington Hall before now given how close it is to home. Luckily Emma & Dan’s big day came along to fix that! Sitting right near the borders of Nottinghamshire, Leicestershire and Derbyshire, this grand house has many of its period features intact, but feels contemporary and welcoming.
Emma got ready with her family and a couple of friends in one of the six upstairs bedrooms at the hall. Meanwhile, Dan was downstairs meeting and greeting as the guests arrived for their Sutton Bonington Hall wedding.

The civil wedding ceremony took place in the rather opulent drawing room. With everyone seated, the bridal party, including a couple of nephews on page boy duty, made their entrance. The bride just managed to contain her emotions during the short ceremony, and soon the happy couple were newlywed!
With the paperwork sorted, they headed outside for confetti and congratulations. The guests divided themselves between the gardens at the back and the grounds at the front of the house as fizz and canapés were served. The kids even got to chat to some cows in the field across the road.

The reception and wedding breakfast took place in Sutton Bonington Hall’s amazing conservatory overlooking the gardens. The guests each got a scratch card as their favours, and the kids got kaleidoscopes to keep them entertained. Dinner was followed by speeches by the groom and his best man. Then the guests headed back out into the gardens for coffee, and a few evening guests arrived for the party.
The couple kicked off the evening by cutting the wedding cake, then they performed their first dance. As the band got started the dance floor filled, and everyone properly let their hair down. There were cigars for the guys, and an evening buffet from the BBQ. An unforgettable day!
