Cat and Jon chose to marry in the remote setting of The Maynard wedding venue in the Hope Valley in rural Derbyshire. Vicki and Ian, whose Thornbridge Hall wedding I had photographed a couple of years ago, recommended me to the couple. This was a child-friendly wedding with loads of them running around!
Cat got ready with her daughter and nieces, with her sister on hair duty. Jon had his son to help with meeting and greeting, as the guests gathered in the bar area.

The Chatsworth Suite is the setting at The Maynard for all the wedding action. The ceremony began with some emotional scenes, and also featured a reading with some projections by friends of the couple.
After the completion of the legal stuff, everybody headed out into the garden. There were the usual drinks and snacks, and there were also lawn games aplenty.

Back in the Chatsworth Suite at The Maynard the staff had set up for the wedding breakfast. There were table centres with gorgeous dried flowers, which also featured on the cake. Dinner was followed by speeches and a quiz about the newlyweds. Then, everyone headed outside again whilst the room was readied for the evening.

The evening entertainment began with a surprise performance by the Jon’s mum on oboe and her friend on clarinet. Well, a surprise to Jon anyway. Next it was time for the ceilidh band to get the dancing started. As is traditional, the first dance was performed by the happy couple to show the rest how it’s done. As is also traditional, the guests then ignored all of the instructions, and the usual ceilidh chaos ensued!
