So, to my last wedding of 2012, and appropriate that it should have a link to the Olympics and the events in London this year. As I previously mentioned, Ross Davenport became a third-time Olympian this summer. Many of his colleagues in the British swimming team were present to celebrate his wedding to Claire.
It was my only real Christmas wedding this year, although the weather didn’t provide a winter wonderland. Just a lot of rain!

After getting ready at her parents’ home the bridal party headed to St. Marys church in Melton Mowbray. The ceremony was slightly delayed, mainly thanks to the last-minute Christmas shopping traffic. From there it was a short trip to Keythorpe Manor and their grand marquee for mince pies and mulled wine. I first photographed Claire and Ross at Jess & Guy’s wedding back in 2008. This was just after the Beijing Olympics, and it was good to see that they had pinched their idea of having toy planes as favours. Not sure the catering staff were so happy!

After cutting the very impressive cake made by Claire’s sister, the rather dramatic dessert was served. Then it was time for Ross to be thoroughly embarrassed by some old home movies by his two best men. After that, the guests enjoyed some bespoke cocktails and a photobooth. Meanwhile, the marquee was transformed for the evening, and the real action began. Having seen athletes having a day off from their strict regime earlier in the year at Fliss and Zac’s wedding, I was glad to see a repeat performance. There was a full dancefloor (of mostly non-athletes I confess!) from about halfway through the first dance to the point where I scurried off.
