A welcome return to the fantastic Carlton Towers for my first winter wedding of the season. This venue looks great all the time, but with some of the biggest Christmas trees I’ve ever seen inside a house it’s something else. Alison got ready with friends in an upstairs room. Meanwhile David arrived at the venue in a hired Aston Martin. Once dressed and ready, the bride and her father headed down the grand staircase and into the state rooms. There was a short civil ceremony before the newlyweds led the guests to the drinks reception.
There was mulled wine all round following the ceremony, and a magician entertaining everyone. Then it was soon time for the wedding breakfast, in the shadow of one of the huge trees. After the wedding breakfast the guests were treated to a pub quiz about the happy couple, along with some wedding general knowledge. I’ll confess to helping here and there, but I don’t think I affected the outcome! The couple opted not to cut their chocolate wedding cake. They did do a first dance though, and then the band struck up and the floor was bouncing!
