I stayed in North Yorkshire after Rosie and Chaz’s civil wedding ceremony at Newby Hall, for their main party at the family home. The classic cars from the previous day were waiting on the driveway when I arrived, surrounding the ceremony tent. This was set up on the front lawn, then the rest of the action was happening round the back. Whilst the set-up was finished by the family and the crew from Black Rabbit Projects, the bridal party were gathered in the annexe.
Roseanna Velin was on make-up duty, with Laura Adkins in charge of all the hairs. The theme for the day was ‘More is More’, and as you can see this included everything from the make-up onwards. The fantastic flowers by Helen at Willow & Bear Floral Design were also suitably over-the-top. The groom’s outfit was the next clue, and as the guests began to file in it became obvious everybody was on board. Shots of a mystery red drink were flowing freely, and the party was well and truly underway.
Marquee Wedding at Family Home
The bride was soon in her amazing dress by Bunny Rumble, and everybody else was looking proper sparkly. The huge bridal party then made their entrance. They did this to the sound of bagpipes, and with the attendants filling the air with bubbles. There were some singalongs, a few readings and a pretend ceremony. Next we discovered what the cars were parked in formation for, as the newlyweds and their attendants jumped inside. They then proceeded to drive around the circular driveway waving smoke bombs!
With the cars parked up, the couple paraded their red carpet under a shower of confetti. Next, they filled a champagne tower and the reception began in earnest.
Fun and Relaxed Wedding Photography
As well as fizzy drinks and snacks, the guests were treated to music by Ragin’ Ceilidh. There was also glittery face-painting by Wish Upon A Sparkle. The wedding party took place against a backdrop of beautiful views across North Yorkshire. The reception was closed with an eyebrow-singeing performance by Tanzanian Acrobats. The guests then made their way into the fantastic big-top marquee by Bohemia Canvas. The couple had set up a video camera at the end of the red carpet, so everyone could strut their stuff.
Once inside the tent there was a feast for the eyes, with more huge floral displays by Willow & Bear, and a vodka luge by Glacial Art. One more performance by the acrobats, and then straight into speeches and dinner.
Festival Wedding Photographer in Yorkshire
The evening began with the clatter of cutlery that signals the presence of singing waiters. They immediately had the dance floor filled and jumping. Next up, Rosie & Chaz started their first dance, which quickly turned into an ABBA themed performance with their parents in fancy dress! We also had a wandering saxophonist and a drummer adding to the fun. My evening ended with a display of fireworks for the guests.
At the bride’s request, I had a second photographer with me for the first time ever. So thanks to the lovely James Smith, The Lincoln Photographer for some of these images!
