Off to Rutland again, and almost six years since my last wedding at Exton Park. However, it was my first time in the lovely little chapel behind the house, where Anna & Glynn had their ceremony. Firstly, Anna got ready at her parents’ home, surrounded by family. You can’t beat a nice, bright conservatory for flattering shots even before the make-up is done! The bride and her dad were then driven to Exton in a vintage Rolls-Royce wedding car. There was beautiful light in the chapel, but it was over quickly and the couple soon headed outside for confetti.

With the ceremony completed, it was a short walk around the house to the huge lawn for the drinks reception. If there was any doubt whether summer had arrived, the huge bowl of strawberries put paid to that. And the blazing sunshine of course. There was a small folk band playing all sorts of variations on a stringed instrument. Then it was time to eat, followed by speeches. These included one of the more hardcore best man speeches this year which left both the groom and his parents’ reputation in tatters.

The newlywed couple took time to cut their impressive Victoria sponge wedding cake, before performing their first dance..The mums (and sisters and aunties) had their turn to shine once the dancefloor opened with well-rehearsed routine to ‘Jai Ho’ from ‘Slumdog Millionaire’. This was a complete surprise to most there, including the bride and groom! The rest of the guests soon joined in, and surely one of the liveliest wedding parties seen at Exton Park continued into the night!
