The second town hall wedding of my weekend was almost 200 miles away from the first in Henley-on-Thames. Emma prepared for the day at nearby Danesfield House in Marlow. She had a good friend present on bridesmaid duty, and friends doing her hair and make-up too. Sparkly dress adorned, she jumped in a lovely old Jag for the drive down to Henley Town Hall to meet Chris and a very select bunch of family and friends.
Henley Town Hall is one of the grander register offices I’ve visited, on it’s own plot right in the middle of the town. Nice wood panelling too! Following the short ceremony, there was time for some confetti on the steps outside and a bit of guest paparazzi. After that, the couple had a brief walk by the river before joining their guests at The Golden Ball. There were drinks and some very tasty looking canapés in the garden, courtesy of the spring sunshine.
Then everyone headed inside for the wedding breakfast in a small room upstairs. There were speeches, and then a cutting of the petite but very frilly cake. A brief outbreak of dancing, then the guests headed outside for cake and a quiet evening with the last of the sunshine.
