A wedding at Crazy Bear that starts with a ‘surprise’ engagement party? Let me explain.
Michelle and Steve decided to play a little trick on all of their friends and family. After getting engaged in 2011, they decided to keep it a secret and organise their entire wedding without anybody (other than parents and siblings) knowing about it. Michelle even managed to only wear her ring in private! All of the guests were invited to a surprise engagement party by Steve, at the Crazy Bear hotel in Stadhampton. They were under the impression that he was going to propose in the morning and then head straight to the party. Michelle managed an oscar-winning ‘surprised’ face, and the guests had their fun. However, Steve soon announced the real reason for the gathering and the tables were turned!
Once the announcement was made key roles were handed out to unsuspecting (and in some cases under-dressed) friends. Then the clock was ticking to get ready for the ceremony at nearby St. John the Baptist Church. Hair and make-up happened simultaneously and we soon found ourselves in church surrounded by slightly bewildered wedding guests. After the ceremony everyone wandered back to the Crazy Bear for drinks, then the wedding breakfast was preceded by two fully-planned speeches, and one severely improvised best men speech!
The surprises weren’t over though as Steve’s sister had arranged for his niece to sing a duet (with a professional singer) for the happy couple. More excitement for one day than is healthy.
Great to see Lee and Dawn from Shutterbox again on video-superhero duty.
