Whether you pronounce it Southwell or Suthull, it’s a place that’s home to some lovely wedding venues. These include Southwell Minster and the Archbishop’s Palace. This was my first time at The Old Vicarage which is a brilliant little self-contained venue for smaller weddings.
Sarah began her day in one of the upstairs rooms surrounded by bridesmaids, make-up and the usual chaos. James arrived bright and early with his brother who was best man. He was followed by a slow trickle of family and friends who gathered downstairs. The ceremony featured acoustic guitar and a brief reading by the sister of the bride. There was also a nice breeze from the open windows on what was a particularly wet and humid day. With drinks and canapés served inside, the gardens didn’t see a lot of action apart from a couple of group shots under the shelter of the trees.

With the ceremony room and the adjoining conservatory converted into a dining space, the guests took their seats. Before the meal we had a full raft of speeches, including an emergency, pre-speech toilet break for the best man! The gathered guests ended the day with more chilling, a cake-cutting and some serious moves on the dance floor.
