A wedding in a back garden in Watford. The bride’s mum’s back garden in fact, and Alex and Sam even had their ceremony at the house! Not the legal ceremony obviously. That happened at the register office during the week. However, they just had two friends as witnesses at that, so that their home ceremony felt like the real thing. Alex is a graphic designer, and that was quickly apparent from the incredible attention to detail that had gone into all of the different bits and bobs at the wedding. Little tags, signs, posters, personalised napkins, etc. etc. She was also very particular about the balloons used in the garden quickly removing some stray heart-shaped ones that appeared!
The bride got ready in an upstairs bedroom, whilst the guests gathered downstairs. The ceremony was held in the conservatory, with a young family member on ring duty. They were delivered inside a book. The couple then signed a certificate and headed out into the garden, accompanied by a gospel choir. The drinks reception took place on the raised bit of garden, before everyone headed into the marquee in the sunken bit.
Other highlights of the day included the groom’s chequered Vans and some very emotional speeches. There was also a post-dinner raffle, a window into their lives on a cake and ice cream for all. Plus a magician, a smoke machine (yay!) and even a costume change.
