The day after Mary and Kern’s sunny wedding with outdoor games, I headed west to the Cotswolds for a wedding in a barn. The sun however didn’t follow. This was supposed to be my first outdoor wedding of the year. However, it quickly became one of the few weddings I’ve ever shot where it has rained from start to finish. Cheryl and Pete weren’t too downhearted, and the marquee at Cripps Barn meant that there was still plenty of space indoors.
Cheryl got ready at a nearby rental property, and had lots of help staying dry from there to the barn. Pete fell safely into the ‘weepy groom’ category, but soon the emotional civil ceremony was out of the way. I had some competition from a couple of younger guests with SLR cameras at the signing! After the ceremony the couple lit a candle to absent family. Then there was drinking, dressing-up and lots of running about for the many children (of all ages) in attendance.
The wedding breakfast, some great speeches (with more tears from Pete!) and the cake cutting were followed by a performance by a band made up of the couple’s friends.
