The George in Rye is a beautiful boutique Georgian hotel in the centre of Rye, and the location for Clare and Jamie’s autumn wedding. Clare got ready with family and a couple of friends in a room at the top of the hotel. Meanwhile Jamie was in charge of the meeting and greeting downstairs in the bar. He soon headed up the hill to the historic Rye Town Hall for the civil ceremony. The usual attendance by the town crier was supplemented by a small band of re-enacters in medieval battle dress.
The groom and the guests were soon joined by the bride, her bridesmaids and flower girls. After a simple ceremony they headed back downstairs for their official introduction by the town crier. After being announced to the world, he led the newlyweds and the guests back down the hill to The George. There was a guard of honour waiting for them, and a brief drinks reception.
After that, everyone took their seats in the amazing Georgian ballroom for the wedding breakfast. There were a few speeches, the cake was cut, then everyone danced the night away!
