A wedding at lovely and historic Langley Priory, on the border of Derbyshire and Leicestershire. I already felt some connection to this venue having photographed the owner’s sister’s wedding in the previous year! Helen and Adam chose to have an ultra-relaxed wedding, with a fairly small number of family and friends. The bride got ready in the house itself with the help of her mum. The groom was on guest greeting duty, and soon everyone was waiting in the ceremony room for the big moment. Everyone enjoyed a short civil ceremony, and then headed out into the sunshine for drinks.

The Pimms was flowing and the confetti was flying out in the garden at the back of the priory. The newlyweds had laid on extensive afternoon tea, with the tea served in vintage teacups. Whilst outside, we enjoyed short speeches by the mother of the bride, the best man and the groom. Then the bride and groom took the opportunity to cut their classic wedding cake.

The afternoon proceedings involved a sweet table, a few games on the lawn, and the arrival of more guests. More food came in the form of a BBQ buffet, then it was soon time for the couple to open up the evening party with their first dance. A lovely introduction to weddings at Langley Priory for me, and a super chilled out experience for the couple and their family and friends!
