A spring visit to The Olde Bell in Hurley for Sarah and Tom’s wedding in the Tithe Barn. Tom is a wedding photographer too, so the pressure was on. Although having photographed quite a few photographers’ weddings now, I am aware they often make the best clients!
First stop was Team Groom’s room to see Tom and his best man getting suited and booted. Once ready, they made their way over to the bar in the main building to meet the arriving guests. Meanwhile, I headed over to the Malt House to find Team Bride in the thick of preparations. Sarah had her bridesmaids and her parents on hand, and a small crew of hair and make-up professionals in full flow.

With everybody ready to rock, it was time to get settled over in the Tithe Barn. There was a lovely civil ceremony, with a couple of readings and some music. One of the bridesmaids was a singer, which usually means having to pull double duty! With the legal stuff complete, the guests followed the newlyweds back over the road to the Malt House for the reception.

We had drinks and canapés, live music, and lots of congratulatory hugs. There was even a round or two of limbo dancing, something normally not seen until well into the evening! However, the highlight for me was when a gust of wind snatched Sarah’s veil, and deposited in a tree in a neighbouring garden. It took some ingenuity, and some decent upper body strength, to retrieve it with a ladder.
Soon it was time for everyone to make their last trip across the road, this time for the wedding breakfast in the Tithe Barn.

After the wedding breakfast, there were a series of very emotional speeches. Tears all round! The couple then cut their wedding cake, complete with a topper representation of the bride and groom. Tom was of course depicted holding a camera. Soon the dance floor was jumping as the band got started.
