I don’t often get enquiries for Scottish weddings, so it was great to be invited to Kate and Steve’s humanist wedding at Crear in Argyll. I was promised amazing views from the glass walls of this remote venue. Perhaps a trip to the beach. Unfortunately the rather wintery weather put paid to that. Spirits weren’t dampened though and the couple’s family and friends enjoyed a very chilled-out day.
Kate got ready in the main house with her team of bridesmaids. She wore a great dress from The Vintage Wedding Dress Company. A hairdresser did her hair, but she did her own make-up. Nerves got the better of her a couple of times, and my calming skills came into play! There was a lovely humanist ceremony, which unlike in England, was legally binding. The venue was filled with great design touches by Kate, including the only yellow and green colour scheme I’ve ever seen. There was also a home-made photo booth and a giant wedding cupcake made by Top Tier Cakes. Everyone ate well, drank well, and partied into the night.
