Kate and Mark had a very simple and low-key, but still very glamorous, Christmas wedding at The Lanesborough hotel on Hyde Park Corner. It was the day following the shortest day of the year, at 5pm, by candle light. So dark that I couldn’t really see a great deal through the viewfinder!
Kate got ready in one of the guest rooms upstairs with family and friends. The couple’s daughter also did her bit to help out. When the helping turned to hindering the kid was shipped off downstairs to the groom. He was busy meeting and greeting the guests. They all then congregated in The Westminster room, fully decked out in candles, for the wedding ceremony.
After their short civil ceremony they moved into The Great Hall for a short drinks reception. After that, they all headed into The Belgravia room. The guests were seated at my second ‘one table fits all’ table of the year. There they enjoyed their wedding breakfast, followed by a couple of speeches. Then they had quiet drinks at the bar to end the evening.
