St Etheldredas Wedding Photography, London
Another visit to Ely Place for a St Etheldredas wedding. But first, preparations! Any opportunity to fill my belly with Welsh cakes is one I grasp with both hands. Victoria and her family are from Pembrokeshire, and had come armed with a homemade batch! Heaven. Anyway, the bride and her party gathered at The Bloomsbury Hotel in the centre of London. Doing her own make-up proved a bit stressful for Victoria, and there were some tears, but with the help of her sister everything fell into place. There was even time to be entertained by her nephews.
To the east Geert and his family and friends were taking their seats at St. Etheldreda’s RC church. As churches go it’s one of the most beautiful, and has tons of history. The stained glass windows in particular were a distraction for the couple as they kneeled for their blessing, followed by a few more tears. With the St Etheldredas wedding ceremony over, everyone headed out onto Ely Place for meets and greets. Then they all got on to a Routemaster bus. En route to Brixton East there was a surprise for the couple. A guest had organised for a greeting to be placed on the messageboard on the front of The Ritzy cinema. And that wasn’t the last time they’d have their names on a wall that day!

Soon everyone was gathered in the wonderful loft space at Brixton East for drinks and canapés. The walls were filled with family photos which were a big draw, and there was table football on the small mezzanine. All the while a jazz band accompanied the celebrations. There was time for a brief speech by the bride, then the guests headed downstairs for food and the rest of the speeches.
The evening ended back upstairs with lots of dancing and an impromptu bouquet toss. Bit of a wait for the winner’s nuptials!
