Rôla and Simon’s One Whitehall Place wedding, in the former National Liberal Club, took place on a Saturday in March. Now part of The Royal Horseguards hotel, it is in a great location overlooking the Thames, just off Whitehall. Rôla got ready with her family, many of whom had travelled from Syria, in one of the rooms upstairs.
Simon was patiently waiting downstairs in The Gladstone Library along with all the guests. Those guests were mostly on time despite a huge protest march happening nearby. The same couldn’t be said for the bride who had Simon (and the registrars!) sweating.

After the shortened ceremony there was a drinks reception in the opulent Reading & Writing Room. A piece of Victorian grandeur complete with high ceilings, murals and twinkling chandeliers. Meanwhile, the ceremony room was changed into a dining room. There was an opportunity for a few photos on the amazing circular staircase at One Whitehall Place, before the guests found their places for dinner.

The wedding breakfast was back in the atmospheric surroundings of The Gladstone Library. There were speeches from the usual candidates, and the now traditional sweepstake on the length of the speeches. The couple then cut the homemade cake, before performing their first dance in front of the mural in the Reading Room. Music was provided by a fantastic soul band, and that triggered some proper shape-throwing from the rest of the guests! Thanks to Rôla and Simon for inviting me to photograph their One Whitehall Place wedding, and for the protestors for moving on before I had to make my way home!
