Formerly Cheyne Walk Brasserie, this was my second wedding at No Fifty Cheyne. From Lithuanian to French, my lack of language skills were exposed royally at this one. Caroline and Mihaï (and most of their guests) speak perfect English of course. Having lived in London for a few years, they opted to have part of their three part wedding close to their London flat, the other parts being in France and Romania. Caroline actually found the venue through my website after I shot Victoria & Al’s Chelsea Register Office wedding there in 2010.
Caroline got ready at home with her mum and sister. She was ready to leave in plenty of time for the ceremony. Unfortunately, the taxi she had booked was not as punctual. After the cab company told her it wasn’t coming at all we headed outside to flag one down. We were soon on our way to Chelsea Old Town Hall for the wedding ceremony.

Emerging on to the steps in bright sunshine, the wedding party made it safely to No Fifty Cheyne just in time to avoid the torrential rain that followed for the next few hours.
New things to observe:
Crudités and dips as a feature of the canapés. A cab company whose policy is to only contact their customer when the cab is going to be more than 30 mins late. Use of another couple’s Routemaster bus for photographs, and a grandparent in his gendarme uniform.
A simple affair with a late start, no cake, no dancing and only one short speech, but tons of fun.
