Yet more familiar faces at Laura and Richard’s wedding at Mercers’ Hall in the heart of the City of London. We started at The Goring Hotel, famous as the location for a certain Kate Middleton’s preparations before the Royal Wedding. Laura had help getting in the dress from both parents, which is not a common sight!
Once ready it was a short cab ride into the city to Mercers’ Hall for the ceremony and reception. The hall is the home of the Worshipful Company of Mercers, the premier livery company of the City of London. Richard’s family have a longstanding connection with the Mercers. A portrait of his great-grandfather, Sir Cecil Clementi, has pride of place on the grand staircase.
The ceremony took place in the on-site chapel, and then the guests gathered in the Ambulatory for drinks and nibbles. Then everyone headed to the Livery Hall (via the receiving line) for the meal and speeches. With the formalities out of the way we all moved to the Court Dining Room where we were treated to a very impressive first dance, the result of a lot of dance lessons!
