I’m not a huge cricket fan, so this Anglo-Danish wedding at Lord’s Cricket Ground was my first visit to this hallowed place. Maj-Britt got ready at a nearby hotel with a small army of bridesmaids and helpers. The rest of the guests staying in the same hotel piled onto a Routemaster for the journey to the ceremony. Maj-Britt arrived in a striking two-tone vintage Bentley. The couple were then married at the Danish Church of St Katherine in Regent’s Park. An amazing church which features a massive model of a boat as part of its decorations.
The ceremony was followed by a reception on the other side of the park at Lord’s. Danish weddings are not radically different to the common or garden English wedding. However, there are a few little variations, most noticeably the number of speeches (I counted eight). Interspersed between these are other activities, such as all the women queueing up to kiss the groom, and vice versa. Great fun, but hard work capturing it all!
