Spring continued with Lucy and Ed’s wedding at the lovely Fredericks restaurant in Islington. The bride and her crew got ready at the flat she shared with the groom. One of the bridesmaids might have been the tallest I’ve come across yet! Lucy’s parents put in an appearance too, and it was a bit of a full house. With the hair and make-up all completed, it was soon time to head down to Islington Town Hall for the ceremony. Ed was there meeting and greeting, and his team were helping the guests get seated.
Wedding in the Council Chamber at Islington Town Hall
With the guests all seated in the grand council chamber the bride made her entrance. I would say arm in arm with her father, but she was in a hurry! There were a few readings and the usual concise, but beautifully conducted, civil ceremony. Then the couple had time to say hello to most of their guests, before heading through the confetti cloud on the Town Hall steps.
The couple then jumped in a cab, whilst their family and friends jumped on a Routemaster. The destination was Fredericks restaurant about half a mile down the road on Camden Passage.

Once at Fredericks there was time for drinks and canapés in the garden. There was much amusement with some clip on cards with pictures of mouths, and there was a sweepstake on the speeches. With the guests seated in the main room of the restaurant, the wedding breakfast commenced. That was followed by speeches, with much eye-covering on Ed’s part.
The cutting of the cake signalled the start of the evening festivities, followed by the first dance. During the band’s first break we even had a rarely seen indoor bouquet toss. More bouquet tosses please!
