My second wedding at Eltham College in as many months, but my first ceremony AND reception at the venue. Rachel and her small army of bridesmaids and gathered helpers started their day up the road in Greenwich at Devonport House. There were so many people that the dress had to be fitted in a separate room! We snuck in a couple of pre-ceremony group shots outside the hotel, then Rachel was driven to the college chapel by her dad in his Porsche.
The college chapel is a great place to work, with lots of light and space, aisle-facing seats and a friendly, welcoming celebrant. After the ceremony the couple made their way down the chequerboard aisle, and hid to one side. Meanwhile, the guests formed a tunnel outside for one of the longest confetti runs around!

Everyone then followed the couple over to the school playing fields where a marquee was set up for the wedding breakfast. The usual croquet, Jenga and Connect 4 were supplemented with a full-scale game of cricket. Jugs of Pimms were doing the rounds, and everyone had a great time hanging out in the sunshine. Inside the marquee awaited a riot of colour with ribbons, paper lanterns and table decorations.
The wedding breakfast consisted of a huge buffet, which was followed by some raucous speeches. As the day started to draw to a close it was time to cut the cake. Riotous colour continued over to the wedding cakes which were covered in hundreds and thousands, and filled with Smarties! The day ended with some excellent twirling of Rachel’s dress on the dance floor.
