My second time shooting the great wedding combo of Asylum and East Dulwich Tavern. Rose and her entourage of family and friends had rented a house not far from the venue. There they had a hair stylist friend (and wedding guest) doing wonders with barnets, and the fantastic Claire Carter on make-up duty. With beautification complete, and everyone well fed, it was time to get dressed.
Rose’s dress was a fantastic gold, sleek and sparkly affair designed by Margo Stankova. The bride’s shoes were a great pair of Kurt Geiger mules with lobsters on them! The flowers and bouquets, like a lot of the wedding, were sourced locally to the couple from Windmill Flowers. With the bride dressed I headed to Asylum, and expected her to follow shortly after.

At Caroline Gardens Chapel, more commonly known as Asylum, Matt was waiting patiently. It was a good job as Rose ended up being very late! The Southwark registrars were starting to look quite worried that they may have to leave, but luckily she arrived just in time. The Palantine String Quartet were keeping everyone entertained. On Rose’s arrival, the couple made their way down the aisle together and the civil ceremony took place.
We heard the Apache wedding blessing and a reading from Fleabag. There then followed a short drinks reception with customised champagne flutes and lots of snacks. As the guests gathered outside, the couple made their exit through a cloud of confetti.

Next stop was the fantastic East Dulwich Tavern, specifically the sprawling first floor space above the pub. The couple had made a huge effort decorating the room with lights, candlesticks and lots of seasonal gourds and pumpkins. There was a tower of brownies instead of a cake, and a special blackboard for the speech-length sweepstake. Soon the couple arrived, and there was a second drinks reception. After that, everybody took their seats and we enjoyed speeches from the father of the bride, the maid of honour and the groom. Then the wedding breakfast was served, followed by lots of dancing!
