Heidi and Steve had a very personal and low-key wedding starting at trendy restaurant, Bistrotheque. It featured my first wedding breakfast before the wedding itself! After getting ready together at the Town Hall Hotel with their young son, they then headed down the road on foot. Their destination was the hip east London venue, for a meal with their close family and friends. The restaurant had made space for one long table so the guests could eat together. There were a couple of speeches to the select gathering, then they set off back to the hotel.
The wedding ceremony took place in the amazing council chamber that has been preserved in the middle of the hotel. A simple civil ceremony is given a real air of drama by having the guests encircle proceedings. After the ceremony the couple followed everybody into Bethnal Hall for afternoon tea. The cakes were provided by the guests themselves, and the choice grew as more and more guests began to arrive. As the room filled and the drinks flowed, the couple took to the dance floor and got the evening party started.
