My second time in Chipping Campden for a wedding at Cotswold House Hotel and Spa. This time with the addition of some time across the road at The Noel Arms. Molly and her small army of bridesmaids ended up in Cotswold House’s sister hotel for their preparations thanks to a double-booking. I think we’ll go with ‘busy’ rather than ‘chaotic’ as everything went pretty smoothly. The advantage of a trip across the road once ready is getting to enjoy the lovely main street of this iconic Cotswold market town again!
A huge flowery arch awaited Molly at the top of the aisle, along with the groom Ben. A bit of a tight squeeze for me, pressed up against a member of the string quartet. Luckily I’m fairly compact when I need to be. After the ceremony the weather held up long enough for Pimms, and an excursion for the father of the groom’s drone and birdwatching lens. Plus, there was a surprisingly loud confetti cannon guard of honour. The guests were also treated to some trickery courtesy of a magician.
Back inside for the wedding breakfast, and we were treated to some brief but hilarious speeches. Talk of ex’s from the best man always risky, but seemed to be received well by all concerned thankfully! A few more drinks outside so the room could be turned around, then it was cake-cutting time. We had not one, but two first dances. The bride and groom and a pair of imposters. Photo-booth antics and some karaoke from the mother of the bride and her sister rounded off the evening.
