From North Somerset, I headed down to Yeovil for Emma and Charlie’s wedding at Brympton House (also known as Brympton D’Evercy). It’s a gorgeous old manor house, parts of which date from the 13th century. It even has its own church in the grounds, which is where the couple held their ceremony. Emma got ready in one of the adjoining guest suites with her family and bridesmaids.
There was an eventful ceremony featuring the common or garden sobbing groom, and also a bridal wasp attack. Afterward the guests gathered outside for the traditional confetti carnage. After that everyone headed to the terrace for drinks before a brief shower forced everyone into the great hall. Then it was upstairs to the large dining room, which had lots of space for me to move around – yay! There there were speeches, including embarassing photos, the wedding breakfast, a sing-a-long, and a few more speeches. Finally, everyone headed over to the stables. There the DJ and his frankly astounding lighting rig (another yay!) were waiting to get the evening party started. There was even a smoke machine!
