Borgo Bucciano Wedding Photography, Tuscany, Italy
A trip to Tuscany, and a Borgo Bucciano wedding, an amazing spot in a small town near Pisa. The venue is perched on a hill surrounded by the Tuscan countryside. It is made up of a collection of buildings, formal gardens and an olive grove. There is also a pool, which is a great spot for sunbathing. However, the weather had different ideas. With heavy thunderstorms one minute, and blazing sunshine the next, everybody was kept guessing. This lead to a stressful few hours for the couple wondering if all of their plans would be washed out.
In between the showers the guests had plenty of opportunities to chill by the pool. Meanwhile, the bridal preparations got started in private, with Terina surrounded by her siblings and a close friend. Language and style barriers were tricky at first between the bridal party and the local hair and make-up artists, however they were soon overcome! Elsewhere, decisions about the outdoor ceremony and wedding breakfast were put on hold until after lunch of local tomatoes and mozzarella. Luckily the rain eased, and the groom’s party began the task of setting up the ceremony seating amongst the olive trees.

Eventually, the sun had its hat firmly on. Tom’s sister conducted a relaxed and emotional wedding ceremony down in the olive grove at Borgo Bucciano. This was brought to a close with a welcome shot of limoncello for everybody! After that, the heat enforced a slow walk back up the hill to the poolside for drinks and canapés. I can still taste the amazing lardo now! The setting for the meal was the terrace of the main house, and there were some appropriate table decorations and photos of each guest. After several courses of amazing Italian food we had the speeches. After that, we headed into the formal gardens for a traditional Tuscan layered millefoglie cake.
Before the dancing there was a surprise firework display, and after that the action really got going. Inhibitions were cast aside, along with underwear for one particular kilt wearer, and the heat was ignored. With the curfew at the house the party moved back to the pool, and then continued into the early hours.
