A rare opportunity to shoot in the Republic of Ireland for this Adare Manor wedding. The manor house is situated on the banks of the River Maigue in the village of Adare, County Limerick and was built in the early 19th century. It is now a golf resort, a luxury hotel, and contains the Michelin-starred Oak Room restaurant. No expense had been spared in getting the house decked out for Christmas.
Marian and her bridesmaids got ready in the bowels of the house. Meanwhile, Daniel and his groomsmen got suited and booted in an upstairs room. There was the usual fizz, and not a Guinness in sight. Once ready everyone headed into the centre of the village to the Trinitarian Abbey. Adare was home to the only Trinitarian monastery in the whole of Ireland. The current abbey was restored in the 19th century by the owner of the manor house, the Earl of Dunraven, as the village’s Catholic parish church. The wedding ceremony was followed by communion, and then everyone headed back to the manor.

Back at Adare Manor, the wedding reception was held in The Lobby against a backdrop of Christmas decorations and sparkly festive lighting. There was a live pianist, and time for a few family group shots before everyone headed up to The Gallery for the wedding breakfast.
Following the fantastic food there was time for the cake cutting, and some drinks. This included my first introduction to the concept of a Jagerbomb. Still no Guinness. Then we had entertaining speeches from all of the usual candidates. Then the bride and groom took to the dance floor. Music was provided by a local band, and everyone got stuck in. And I finally got stuck into a pint of the black stuff!
