St Sophias Cathedral Wedding Photography, London
The first of a three wedding weekend, and a load of new experiences including my first wedding at St Sophias Cathedral. So, my first Greek Orthodox wedding, and also my first wedding at Syon Park. Alexia and Matt chose the beautiful setting of The Petersham Hotel in Richmond for their preparations, and had family and friends around them. The hotel enjoys great views of the river and Petersham Meadows.
Then everyone convened in Bayswater, at what appears to be a modest church from the outside. However, the inside is a feat for the eyes filled with amazing colours and with a heavily decorated, domed roof. A Greek orthodox ceremony is no ordinary church service, complete with crowns and trips around the ceremonial table. With the speedy legal proceedings completed, everybody jumped into buses for the crawl through London’s Friday afternoon rush hour to Syon Park.
There the guests were entertained by Greek musicians before heading into the Great Conservatory for a rather hot and humid wedding breakfast. The evening party brought new experiences too with Alexia and Matt performing a traditional Greek first dance. This was followed by more traditional dances, and then the second first dance (!) and the usual party choons.
