Alice + Max
Queens’ College Wedding Photography, Cambridge
My last wedding at a Cambridge college was back in 2009 at Girton College, but Queens’ College is a different proposition altogether. Made up of some of the oldest, grandest and most iconic university buildings in the UK (and some of the newest) it’s a fantastic setting for a wedding, and must be an amazing place to study. It was whilst studying here that Alice and Max met, and they returned (with family and friends in tow) to seal the deal.
The couple got ready at opposite ends of the student accommodation, before reconvening in the impressive college chapel for the ceremony. Confetti is banned, so streamers on sticks made for a good alternative, then a short wander down to the riverside gardens for drinks, croquet and ice cream from Max’s native Southend. The wedding breakfast was served in the Old Hall, which is the original dining hall of the college with lots of original features from the 15th Century, and a brilliant decorative ceiling.
The cutting of the cake (made by Alice herself!) was followed by some emotional speeches, after which everyone headed over the famous Mathematical Bridge to the newer part of the college for the evening party in the student bar. An impressive homemade photobooth, the ubiquitous sweet jars, a wandering saxophonist (!) and tattoos of the happy couple’s faces were lying in wait.

With a long, cross-county drive in old vehicles, it was a bit of a late start for Hannah and Ben's ceremony at All Hallow's Church in Upper Dean. As you can see below, myself and a few guests were travelling on a vintage double decker with a top speed of about 35mph,...
